The following is a list of my policies and procedures. I don't publish these to come off as a stickler but to avoid any misunderstandings or surprises. I want my clients to be as fully informed as possible. Please read it carefully. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

Reservations

Always confirm your reservation with me directly. I can not accept a message left by phone or e-mail as an actual reservation. You will need direct confirmation by me that I have received it. This is to prevent pets being left alone because of a missed message.

When you make an advanced reservation for a pet sit (does not apply to dog walk/playtimes or regularly weekly visits) I will call to confirm the dates 24-48 hours ahead of time. If you do not hear from me, you must call me and reconfirm the dates. This is very important! We are all human and there could have been a miscommunication on either side and I do not want any pets to suffer because of it.

Call When You Return

Please remember to call upon your return from a trip. Otherwise I will need to continue visiting to ensure the safety and well-being of your pet(s). Additional visits will be added to your bill at a higher rate (extra $5/visit). Please call at any hour (voice mail will pick up after hours so you don't need to worry about calling too late at night) and leave a voice message that you have returned. Please do not call from the road or from the airport. You could still break down or get in an accident on the final leg of your journey. I ask that you call from your home when you are with your pets so I know for sure they are truly back in your care.

Visits

Visits are scheduled from 7:00AM to 8:00PM I can't guarantee specific visit times. You can give a preferred time and I will take that into consideration when making up my daily schedule but it will all depend upon what other sits I have that day, how those sits go, the weather and any personal plans I may have. Visit times may vary. On occasion I may have a personal obligation (teacher conference, child's basketball game etc.) during regular evening hours. If that occurs I may do an extra free late afternoon visit and then a late night visit.

All cats and other small pets must be seen at least once a day. All dogs must be seen at least twice a day. Crated dogs must have 3 visits per day.

I must be notified of all pets in your household and they will all be considered under my care unless other approved care is arranged for them.

Visits average about a half hour long but may be shorter in specific cases such as a shy or nervous cat that is waiting for me to leave or on occasion if I've gotten behind schedule or have time constraints.

In the case of extreme weather I will get to your pet as soon as it is safely possible. If you are going away during the winter season, please make arrangements to have your driveway cleared in case of snow. I do have a 4 wheel drive vehicle but I can't be shoveling snow. .

Cancellations

Cancellation of regularly scheduled daily visits must be given by 7:30 a.m. or you will be charged as usual. As much advanced notice as possible is greatly appreciated as it affects my daily schedule, can determine whether I can add another client if needed or can affect my personal plans. Thank you.

For all other sits, cancellation must be given 72 hours before first scheduled visit or you will be charged for all visits scheduled. This time was specifically reserved for you and not available for other clients or plans.

Any cancellations during the Thanksgiving or Christmas - New Years weeks will be charged $50 if less than a month's notice is given. These weeks are extremely popular.

I charge time and a half on the following holidays: New Year's Eve (after 3:00 p.m.), New Year's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day Weekend, Father's Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve (after 3:00 p.m. 12/24) and Christmas Day. Not available July 4th weekend

There are NO refunds for early returns.

Payment & Charges

Payment is due upon start of service. Please leave a check on counter to be picked up on my first visit. This does not apply to first time clients who will be left an invoice at end of service.

There will be a $10-$20 charge, in addition to purchase price, for the pick up of any needed supplies including food, cat litter, paper towels etc. Please make sure you leave enough food and supplies.

If for any reason I feel I must stay extra time at your home due to pet illness or injury, extensive clean up or due to a problem with your home or any other unforeseen circumstance then you will be charged $25/hour.

If I deem any extra visits are necessary for the safety and well-being of your pet(s) they will be charged at the regular rate and added to your bill.

It is recommended that the client should inform their veterinarian that they are using this pet sitting service and check veterinary policy for payment. All emergency veterinary charges will be the full responsibility of the client. Client will be billed $25/hour by the pet sitter for any emergency trips to the vet.

Bookings made with less than 48 hours before start of service will be charged an extra $5 per visit fee.

Returned checks will be charged a $20 service fee.

Any payments that are more than 30 days overdue will be charged a $15 late fee.

Job sharing & Third Parties

Please notify me of any other person (relative, neighbor, contractor, cleaning service, child away at college, etc.) having permission to access your home while you are away. This is very important. If anyone else is there, I will need to contact the police for my safety and the safety of your home and pets.

Donna's Pet Sitting does not job share due to conflicts, problems and liability that can occur. Under extremely special circumstances I may agree but can not be held responsible for the pet(s) being cared for improperly, doors being left unlocked, pets getting loose, items being lost or broken etc. It is much harder to observe the health of a pet with more than one caregiver. I ask for written reports on any food given, potty breaks, activities and behaviors to help me give the best care I can.

Donna's Pet Sitting is not liable and is completely indemnified for any and all liability stemming from the act(s) or failure to act(s) of third parties, whether known or unknown, including but not limited to, friends, neighbors, pool persons, landscapers, housekeepers, utility persons, etc.,

Pet & Home Safety

Donna's Pet Sitting will not be held liable for free roaming outdoor cats in the event of injury, illness, loss or death. For their safety it is strongly advised that they remain inside your home during your absence.

All dogs are required to be on a leash when outside except for when in secured owner's property (fenced in yard) or under special circumstances with owner's instructions.

It is the client's sole responsibility to pet proof any areas of the home and property to which the pet has access. This includes thoroughly inspecting fences, gates and latches. Donna's Pet Sitting has no liability for any injuries the pet may sustain while in their own home/property nor any property damaged by the pet. .

I reserve the right to adjust heat or A/C in your home if I think the health of your pet is being affected. Please never leave a space heater on while you are away. They can be fire hazards and I will need to unplug them for the safety of your pets.

I will do my best to find and clean up any accidents made by your pet(s) during your absence; however I will not be held responsible for any damage done by these accidents or by any accidents that are not discovered during a normal walk through of your home. Additionally, while my best will be done to clean any accidents found, I am not a professional carpet/floor cleaner and as such can not be held liable for the quality of the clean up.

Invisible Fencing

If you use invisible fencing you understand the risks involved and that the fence or collars may malfunction, that your dog(s) may be excited or frightened by something and cross anyway and that the fencing does not prevent other animals from entering the yard and possibly harming your dog(s). Donna's Pet Sitting will not be held responsible for any injury, illness, loss or death of any dog using invisible fencing. The client understands all risks and will take full responsibility for any incidents that may occur, including but not limited to, the injury to any person, damage to any property or injury or death of any other dog or pet. I will NOT leave dogs outside with invisible fencing in between visits.

I will not leave dogs tied outside or on runs in between visits. It is too risky and I don't feel dogs should be tied out in the first place. For dogs to be left outside they must have a securely fenced in yard.

Sitters & Service

Pet sitting visits are usually done by myself, Donna Doherty, but in the event of a personal situation, time off, illness or injury to myself, another qualified individual may fulfill the responsibilities set forth in the service agreement. (On occasion I will now be taking some days off and may have another qualified pet sitter doing some visits.)

Donna's Pet Sitting reserves the right to deny service or terminate service for any reason, but especially in the case of safety concerns, financial concerns, unsanitary conditions, or inappropriate or uncomfortable situations.

Any dog bites must be reported to local authorities as provided by law.
